Community Advocacy
Nurses Serving Our Neighbors (NSON) advocates for individuals referred to us from within the community. Our volunteers use a two-by-two model of discipleship to create a collaborative environment during neighbor visits and holistic health assessments. Our volunteers listen to understand the neighbor’s individual needs and then develop a plan of care according to the NSON Holistic Health Model. Ongoing visits and advocacy validate neighbor progress and encourage the journey toward holistic health.
-
Onsite Advocacy
Nurses Serving Our Neighbors (NSON) facilitates onsite clinics and health fairs at homeless shelters, transitional housing sites, and other community facilities to meet and engage our neighbors with dignity and respect while understanding and discussing their individual healthcare needs. Assessment and education is provided to address each neighbor’s health needs utilizing the NSON Holistic Health Model. Our volunteers also provide information and assistance so the neighbor has a better understanding of the importance of accessing a primary care physician, complying with prescribed medications and accessing health insurance benefits.

Prayer Advocacy
Prayer is critical to carrying out our mission. Prayer provides powerful support and advances the holistic health and wellbeing for volunteers, staff, neighbors, and the NSON community-at-large. Prayer is offered personally, behind the scenes and/or on a prayer intention list as desired by our neighbors. “And we have this confidence in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in regard to whatever we ask, we know that what we have asked Him for is ours.” 1 John 5: 14-15
